Dr. Rustom 
MD, FAAP                                                   

Dr. Rustom is a graduate of the College of Holy Cross in Worcester, MA and attained his medical degree at the New York Medical College in Valhalla, NY. He completed his internship and pediatric residency at the prestigious Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC. After several years of practice with Piedmont Primary Care, Dr. Rustom founded Piedmont Pediatrics in 1996. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. His professional interests include newborn medicine as well as children affected by autism and ADHD. He is the current president and financial officer of Piedmont Pediatrics. Dr. Rustom has worked with area high schools to sponsor career shadow programs to promote student interest in the medical profession. He has also been voted “Best Pediatrician” by Warrenton’s Lifestyle Magazine.

Dr. Rustom is an accomplished musician who plays both piano and guitar in a local band. He is an avid tennis player however his favorite pastime is spending time with his two children.

Diana Chalmeta,

Dr.Chalmeta  was born in Madrid, Spain and moved to the United States at age 4.  She grew up in Annandale and attended the University of Virginia where she majored in Biology with a minor in Religious Studies.  She then went to the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond for medical school and residency.  She completed a dual residency in Pediatric and Internal Medicine.

Dr. Chalmeta moved to Warrenton in 1999 to join Piedmont Pediatrics.  She often preceptors students of all kinds to generate interest in medicine and to help aspiring clinicians meet their career goals.  She has been honored as one of Washingtonian magazine's Top Doctors in 2010 and has received honorable mention for Best Pediatrician in Warrenton Lifestyle's magazine in 2011 and 2012

Dr. Chalmeta has 3 children who attend school in Warrenton.  She has served as Co-chair and then Chair of the Department of Medicine at Fauquier Hospital.  She currently serves Fauquier Hospital as the chair of the Peer Review Committee.  Dr. Chalmeta volunteers her time regularly at the Fauquier Free Clinic, where her husband is the director. She is also responsible for volunteer physician recruitment and scheduling. Her interests include spending time outdoors, entertaining at home, and enjoying the arts.

Joshua A. Jakum,
MD, FAAP                                         

Dr. Jakum is an honors graduate of the University of Maryland at College Park, where he was awarded magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa membership and completed his medical degree at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Jakum performed his internship and pediatric residency at Brown University School of Medicine in Providence, Rhode Island. After practice for two years in North Carolina, Dr. Jakum joined Piedmont Pediatrics in 2003.

Dr. Jakum is board certified in pediatrics and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He currently holds the position of Chair of Fauquier Hospital’s Bioethics Committee and is a member of the Hospital and Health System's Board of Directors. Dr. Jakum is an avid instructor and preceptor of students in medicine and nursing. His special interests include medical ethics, international adoption, and breastfeeding support. He was honored in 2008, 2010 and 2012 as a “Top Doctor” in Pediatrics by physician biennial survey in the Washingtonian Magazine and voted “Best Pediatrician” by the readership of Warrenton Lifestyle Magazine in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011.

With his three children, Dr. Jakum lives in Warrenton, Virginia.

Dr. Bovee

Dr. Bovee is a honors graduate of the University of Richmond and the George Washington University School of Medicine. She completed her pediatric residency in Orlando, Florida at the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children and is Board Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. She has an interest in newborn medicine and breastfeeding, which served her well at a hospital where there were 15,000 newborn deliveries each year. Her other medical interests include preventative care, asthma and obesity. Dr. Bovee is also a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and was a certified car safety technician.

Dr. Bovee and her husband are excited about being in Warrenton. They have two sons and are looking forward to raising them here.

Debbie Hayes 

Debbie is a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner, who brings over twenty-five years of pediatric nursing experience to her practice.  Debbie graduated in1981 from Carlow College in Pittsburgh, PA with a BSN. Debbie worked as a RN at Children’s Hospital National Medical Center and the Rappahannock-Rapidan Health District. Debbie completed her MSN and Nurse Practitioner programs at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville in 1995.  Before joining Piedmont Pediatrics, Debbie was a Nurse Practitioner at Culpeper Pediatrics. Debbie is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and the Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners.

Susan Stoltzman

Susan brings 30 years of experience as a pediatric nurse practitioner to our clinic.

She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a masters in nursing and is board certified by the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board.

Susan has a wide range of professional experiences, including working for many years with the cardio vascular surgeons at Children's Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.Her special interests include all aspects of adolescent health care and international health care for children, especially in Uganda, East Africa.

Together with her husband, Dan, Susan lives in Washington, Virginia along with two rambunctious golden retrievers and two sassy rescue cats. She is secretary of the Architectural Review Board there, and loves reading, cooking, yoga and running.


Joyce Apted

Joyce Apted is a long time resident of Northern Virginia and joined Piedmont Pediatrics in May, 2012.  She is currently pursing a PhD in Nursing at the University of Virginia with a research interest in parental decision making and Human Papillomavirus Vaccination.    She received her Master’s degree in Nursing from the University of Virginia in 2000 and is Board Certified as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.  Joyce received her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from George Mason University in 1988.  

Joyce worked as a Registered Nurse at Children’s National Medical Center for 12 years in the Pediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care Units, as an ECMO (Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation) Specialist and as a Nursing Administrator.  She has worked in primary care pediatrics as a Nurse Practitioner for 13 years and in the Emergency Department for 5 years. She is also Adjunct Faculty in the Nursing Department at George Mason University and enjoys mentoring Nurse Practitioner students.  

Joyce enjoys cooking, gardening, spending time with her dogs and supporting her daughter’s equestrian activities.
